First 90 Days Coaching Programme

Vision to Action
Facilitation

For both organisations and for managers moving into new roles there is a very significant investment and without doubt some risk for everyone. Many people and organisations believe that the appointment of a person to a role is the successful outcome of the recruitment exercise. However in many ways it is only the beginning – especially if you wish to maximise the investment you have already made in the new appointment.

“A mistake is to believe that you will be successful in your new job by continuing to do what you did in your previous job”.

In his book ‘The First 90 Days’ Michael Watkins (Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School) recommends that:

“In the first few weeks, you need to identify opportunities to build credibility. In the first 90 Days, you need to identify ways to create value, improve business results and get to the breakeven point more rapidly”.

The key to success in a new role is to reach that breakeven point very quickly so that managers become a contributor to the organisation. And the general rule is that the speed (trajectory) at which a manager reaches this breakeven point and becomes a contributor to the organisation is fairly reflective of the continuing success (success trajectory) they will have in their role during the time they are in it. Career Architects has designed a programme that will help managers succeed more quickly during the First 90 Days. It assists them to build a map of the organisational landscape as well as to identify the key drivers that will impact on their success in the role in the short, medium and longer term. Our coaches provide a partnership with them that is designed to produce results that not only enable a manager to more effectively contribute in the First 90 Days but also enables them to build a platform for long term sustainable success.
